Breakfast with the view across the Lake

$100 per night – 2 adults -one room only

Entering via your private steps to the terrace, Redgum/Tallangatta B&B has panoramic views across parkland to Lake Hume and then the Mitta Mitta river and valley when water recedes towards the end of summer

Easy access from the house to picnic areas beside the lake with barbecue or the use of a small wood fired Japanese style barbecue or baby webber bbq on the patio.

Free wireless Internet available.

A short walk to the main street of Tallangatta via a walking/bike track beside the lake where two hotels, bakery and other eating options are available, a local craft shop, op shop, supermarket, hardware, bank, ATM etc.

As the Hume is an irrigation storage dam the water at Tallangatta may have disappeared by the end of January and not return until autumn or winter rains. Instead of a lake we have the Mitta Mitta River, billabongs and an abundance of water birds. Once the valley grasses over it is a beautiful landscape.

The High Country Rail Trail runs beside Tallangatta and takes bike riders to Old Tallangatta or back towards Wodonga across the iconic Sandy Creek bridge. Mountain or Hybrid bikes can access parts of the track from Shelley to Koetong. A $50 charge if you want to be dropped at Shelley to ride down to Derbyshire on trail. The $50 is donated to HCRT to help with maintenance of trail.

Tallangatta is situated on the Murray Valley Highway. The town was moved from the original site of the now Old Tallangatta township nine kilometres further upstream on the Mitta Mitta River, when the Hume Dam wall was raised in the early 1950’s. My house was relocated from the old township and an extension added in its new site.

Fishing either from the foreshore or by boat, swimming and water skiing in summer, bike riding and walking tracks in and around Tallangatta makes the area a delightful holiday destination. We are on the road to the Snowy Mountains, Kosciuszko and Cooma or over the Great Divide to Omeo and Gippsland, 45 mins to historical Beechworth, Wodonga, Albury and Mitta Mitta Valley and approximately an hour to Bright or Mt Beauty the gateways to the Victorian snow fields and Alpine National Park.

$100 per night – 2 adults
